Two new interns join Nordic Sustainability

We warmly welcome our new interns Bea and Christina to the team. Christina recently joined Nordic Sustainability as an Associate Consultant, and Bea as a Communications Associate.

The opportunities for businesses to mitigate climate change without stunting their growth

Having grown up with organic farming, Christina from early on gained a holistic understanding of the natural ecosystems supporting us. Her interest in sustainability grew during her several trips to developing countries, as they provided her with perspective on the specific issues that different parts of the world are facing. These insights contributed to Christina’s decision to study a BSc in International Business and Politics at Copenhagen Business School (CBS), which has provided her with a broad understanding of the economic and political forces shaping businesses and society, and how these can be steered to deliver sustainable strategies for both public and private actors.

In parallel with her bachelor studies, Christina has been involved in CBS Climate Club – a student organization whose mission it is to incentivize sustainable business to mitigate climate change, while making fellow students aware of the effects of climate change. As part of CBS Climate Club’s management team, she runs projects and explores partnership opportunities to encourage green transformations across all industries. Christina additionally has studied Sustainable Business Strategy at Harvard Business School Online due to her personal interest in how climate change affects conventional business and can spur innovation. This interest in business’ ability to “do good” while “doing well” was Christina’s main motivation for joining Nordic Sustainability, and she looks forward to applying her knowledge as a full-time intern. In addition to gaining further insights into the field of sustainability consulting, she looks forward to swapping her school literature for Nordic Sustainability’s book-club readings. She also hopes to have more time on the weekends for doing “fun things” – her favorite activity being café hopping in Copenhagen.

Communicating sustainability to foster green transitions

Having moved around various places in Scandinavia and Central Europe, Bea has now set foot in Copenhagen where she will start her new job as Communication Associate at Nordic Sustainability. Her interest in sustainability emerged as she discovered her passion for animal rights and preparing plant-based meals, and it has continued to grow ever since. As a means to better understand how environmental decisions are made on a European and international level, she went on to pursue a BSc in Political Science which included a semester abroad at Sciences Po in France. Currently, she is halfway into her master’s degree in Communications at the University of Gothenburg, where her main interests lie within the areas of organizational and digital communication.

Alongside her studies, Bea has worked with communications at the Climate Finance Unit of the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP), where she was able to put her academic knowledge – acquired both within the fields of political science and communications – into practice. Besides drafting texts, creating visual communication assets, and contributing to the build-out of knowledge sharing and marketing solutions, she gained insight into how blended finance approaches can help unlock private capital for sustainable land use. Before joining UNEP, Bea worked at a Helsinki-based digital marketing firm and at the Erasmus Student Network, providing her with valuable experience in two of her passions: graphic design and photography. Aside from visual communication, Bea enjoys long walks and good conversations over a glass of wine. She is excited to join Nordic Sustainability to expand her professional skillset (while hopefully picking up some Danish along the way).
