Creating a sustainability baseline for Louisiana Museum of Modern Art by conducting a double materiality assessment and setting up a Greenhouse Gas Inventory.
The brief
Nordic Sustainability was commissioned to support Louisiana Museum of Modern Art in identifying its sustainability impacts, risks, and opportunities. Through a double materiality assessment and a Greenhouse Gas Inventory a solid baseline was developed to identify and understand the material impacts in Louisiana’s own operations and in the value chain.
Our approach

To assess sustainability, the project was divided into two tracks running parallel: 1) a double materiality assessment, and 2) a Greenhouse Gas Inventory.
The double materiality analysis was methodologically informed by the EU Corporate Social Responsibility Directive (CSRD). To identify the material impacts, industry research including a benchmark analysis of selected institutions was conducted. Internal and external stakeholders’ inputs and reflections were gathered through a series of interviews, and insight papers were written on the sustainability priorities in philanthropic foundation towards art museums.
The Greenhouse Gas Inventory covered scope 1, 2, and 3 and laid the foundation for a high-level emissions reduction roadmap. A methodology guide was developed to support the performance of future inventories.
Result
Louisiana Museum of Modern Art now has solid insights into the impacts of all their material topics and the foundation of which upon to steer its decisions on sustainability.
Nordic Sustainability has delivered a thorough baseline, and with it, Louisiana is equipped to take the next steps in its sustainability work.
